How long do hair extensions last?
In doing your research on hair extensions, you will find there are companies out there that claim they offer hair extensions that can stay in for 4 to 6 months. This is not healthy for your hair at all. Plus, after a certain amount of time, your natural hair grows in and the hair extensions hang sloppily.
I recommend removing your hair extensions and repositioning them every 2 months. This is because your hair grows a half-inch every month. After about 2 months, the hair extensions look noticeable. Back to top
How long does it take to put in hair extensions?
It can take anywhere from 15 minutes to 4 hours for application. It depends on if you need color, a cut or other services and the type of extensions used. It can take up to 4 hours for a full bonding. I try to work quickly as I know it can take some patience to sit in the chair for a few hours. We can take breaks as needed when doing the longer applications. Back to top
Will hair extensions damage my hair?
Hair extensions will not damage your hair if they are correctly applied, maintained and removed.
I will instruct you on how to properly care for your hair extensions before you leave from the appointment. I will also show you which products and items to use that are meant to appropriately care for hair extensions.
Additionally, I offer the service of hair extension removal. It is a simple process that when done correctly, will not harm your hair. Back to top
Are hair extensions painful?
Generally, there is no pain associated with having hair extensions.
However, I have had some clients who experience mild discomfort on the first night of having them. It isn't noticeable until the excitement of having new, gorgeous hair calms down a little and it is time for bed; they then realize their scalp feels sensitive. This can be handled with your regular mild pain reliever.
If you have an overly sensitive scalp, the discomfort may last about two nights. It is usually always gone after that. Back to top
How long does my hair have to be to get hair extensions?
Your hair should be at least 2 inches, generally. This is so I have enough hair to work with and there is enough natural hair to bond the hair extensions to.
I don't recommend you go any longer than double your length. It is possible to achieve this but it tends to look a little less natural when there is more hair extension than natural hair.
I use your natural hair to create layers and overlays. It is important to me to keep it looking like its all your hair! Back to top
